Trek-Brentjens to ride for World Bicycle Relief

World Cup Windham succes for Pietersma and Vastaranta

Both Pietersma and Vastaranta performed admirably during the final of the 2010 World Cup in Windham, US, riding to their best World Cup result of this season. Vastaranta finished in 26th, followed closely by Pietersma who took 31st. The race was won by Jaroslav Kulhavy, taking his first World Cup win. Schurter and Vogel followed in second and third. Pietersma and Vastaranta will be leaving for Mont Sainte Anne in Canada now, for the World Championships mountainbiking. 

Vastaranta wins Finlandia Marathon

Jukka Vastaranta has won the Finlandia marathon in his home country. Vastaranta claimed his victory in an impressive manner, taking the win with a lead of over six minutes.

Lukas Kaufmann strong in Racer Bikes Cup

Lukas Kaufmann performed admirably in a world class field today. Kaufmann was riding in front with Nino Schurter and Julien Absalon among others, but had to drop in the final lap. The race was won by Florian Vogel, finishing before Nino Schurter and Ralph Näf. Kaufmann finished in 6th. "I felt strong again after my altitude training. My race was solid and I was able to compete in the front bunch up untill the last lap."

Jukka Vastaranta has defended his Finnish national championships title today, claiming the voctory in a hard race. "The course was flat, with a lot of stones. I was afraid I would get a flat throughout the race, but luckily my Maxxis tyres worked wonders." Vastaranta claimed the Finnish title with a five minute lead over his competitors.

Champéry, 25th of July 2010 - Two days of rainfall in Champéry transformed an already technical course in an extremely challenging one. Four riders started for the Trek-Brentjens team; Kaufmann, Luttenberg, Pietersma and newcomer Jukka Vastaranta. Kaufmann was the first to drop out; after dropping his chain at the start, Kaufmann dropped to a sub 100 position and quit the race. Irjan Luttenberg struggled with the course, and a hard crash forced him to drop out in a later stage.

Zoetermeer, july 18 2010 - Lots of favorites for the Dutch title this year and the race would prove to be close. The pace was high right from start with Thijs Al, Rudi van Houts and Frank Schotman setting the pace. Jelmer Pietersma, who could barely avoid a crash at start, struggled to make his way back to the lead group. Irjan Luttenberg blew a tyre and crashed later on trying to make his way back.  

Kaufmann 7th in strong Swiss field

The Swiss championship's field is one of the worlds most competitive fields in mountainbiking, with Vogel, Schurter and the Fluckigers among others. Schurter took the win in Switzerland, followed closely by Florian Vogel and Lukas Flückiger. Lukas Kaufmann finished 7th, 5 minutes behind winner Schurter.

Team per direct. Together with teammates Jelmer Pietersma (Ned), Lukas Kaufmann
(SUI), Tim Wijnants (Bel) ,Frank Beemer (Ned) and Irjan Luttenberg (Ned) he
will participate in national and international races.

Mechanical problem spoils good result for Kaufmann in Swiss Trophy

A world class field at the start near Bern today and a world class race for spectators. Trek-Brentjens rider Lukas Kaufmann, getting stronger and stronger lately, was powering his way up the field. Half way through, Lukas was riding in the top 10 when bad luck struck - mechanical failure caused him to finish his race on his small chainring. Despite two dropped chains he still managed to finish in 17th. The race was won by Julien Absalon, followed by Nino Schurter and Christoph Sauser. In the women's race Irina Kalentieva took the win, before Sabine Spitz and Katrin Leumann.

Wynants 4th in XC KitzAlpbike

A strong Trek-Brentjens squad showed itself today during the Cat. 1 UCI race in the Kitzalpbike. Tim Wynants and Frank Beemer rode in 3th and 4th place after two laps, riding close to the top three. A broken shoe plate ruined Frank's chances though. The race was won by Oulma, followed by Metseler and Spesnie. Tim Wynants finished in 4th position, just 20 seconds behind number three.
