Zoetermeer, july 18 2010 - Lots of favorites for the Dutch title this year and the race would prove to be close. The pace was high right from start with Thijs Al, Rudi van Houts and Frank Schotman setting the pace. Jelmer Pietersma, who could barely avoid a crash at start, struggled to make his way back to the lead group. Irjan Luttenberg blew a tyre and crashed later on trying to make his way back.
Frank Beemer rode well - his strategy proved succesful and his strength remained throughout the race, delivering an excellent result for his first national championships in the elite category.
Jelmer Pietersma worked hard trying to catch up to the lead bunch, but a flat tyre cost him another 30 seconds, making the gap too big to the top 3.
The race was won by Rudi van Houts, second place was for Bas Peters, whilst Frank Schotman, who made the race, had to settle for third.
