Jongewaard making up ground: Chris Jongewaard making his way up the field during the Madrid World CupMadrid, 24th of May 2009 - The Mountainbike World Cup in Madrid is over for the Trek-Brentjens Mountainbike Racing team. Chris Jongewaard was focused upon a good result, but had a bad start and had to fight his way back to the top. The Australian rider still managed to get a 20th place. Jelmer Pietersma was struggling; his body was still recovering from a training accident a week before (he got hit by a car). Jelmer still managed to make it to 65th position, a good result considering the circumstances. Frank Beemer had an excellent start, but faded a bit in the race's final. He came in 62nd. Bart Brentjens: "This is a fast course, in the heart of Madrid. It can actually be considered a "Dutch" style course, so we were expecting good results here. Yesterday's rain made the track better. As for results; the team's performed pretty well, but I was hoping for a surprise of one of our riders here. Unfortunately this did not happen."
