Schaijk, 11 september ; Chris jongewaard was part of a car accident in 2007 in Australia. Last month trial took place in Australia and today was the sentencing by the judge. Jongewaard was found guilty of aggravated driving without due care and leaving the scene of an accident. Today jongewaard has been sentenced two years jail with a nine month non-parole and disqualified from driving for 10 years. Next Monday Cycling Australia will hold a disciplinary hearing into Jongewaard's conviction and subsequent imprisonment.
Brentjens " We have to respect the judges decision. The teammanagement has decided not to undertake action at this moment and wait for the outcome of next mondays hearing by Cycling Australia. The consequences from this conviction for Chris's sportive career are not clear yet."
