Cairns, 20 oktober 2009 ; Today was the first stage of the Crocodile Trophy, world's hardest, longest and most adventurous mountainbike stagerace. The stage was 97 kilometers from Cairns to Lake Tinaroo. Winner of today was the swiss Urs Huber. Brentjens came in 2nd with 1.45 behind.

Brentjens : "It was a tough stage today, from the 97 kilometers there were only 3 on asphalt and the others through bushbush...The climbs were also very steep and hard, it is going to be another 9 heavy days... We are now camping at lake Tinaroo, the perticipants of the race are the only human beings here now, it is a real adventure !"

Tomorrow the stage will go from lake Tinaroo to Granite gorge, 171 kilometers.
